ERGONOMICS
User experience was one of the key elements in the solution finding process.
The project can accommodate various needs – the kiosk can increase in size or shrink over time; the shelves can be adjusted; Lighting fixtures can change their position and orientation. The project is characterized by efficiency, flexibility and adaptability.
MODULARITY | ADAPTABILITY
In order to streamline the process of production, for the ease of transport as well as for the ease of assembly, the proposed solution is a modular one.
The project is based on a 2.10×1.20 structural module which, depending on the approached furniture, is divided into 4 types. By combining these types, kiosks of various sizes can be obtained, easily adapting to any location. To make the process more efficient, both the newsstand and the flower kiosk are composed of the same modules.
UNITY | IDENTITY
The kiosk has a shape that discreetly integrates into the context. The vertical accent, on which the logo of District 6 is marked, is a landmark, a visible signal both during day and night. The two types of kiosks have a unitary language, the differentiation being made at the level of detail. The assignment of colors – green for the flower shop and orange for the news stand, makes their destination visible both from a distance and at night. Another element visible at night is the bright display case where products specific to each kiosk can be displayed.
FLEXIBILITY
With a simple and regular exterior, the kiosk comes to life through the inside atmosphere.
The furniture has been carefully designed to maximize the display and storage space and to adapt over time according to needs. With minimal modifications, the change of destination from a newsstand to a flower kiosk and vice versa can be easily made.
SUSTAINABILITY
In addition to the connection to the water supply network, the project foresees a rainwater collection system connected to the toilet.
The kiosks will adapt to various locations that sometimes will not offer favorable conditions for solar panels, they must be studied as necessary. As a first step, solar panels are proposed that contribute to the energy of the two LED displays (the light panels with the name of the company that will be lit at night).
Other positive points: natural ventilation, exterior shading, waste sorting point.
